UI/UX Design and Strategy

User research, wireframes, interactive prototypes and design systems in Figma - validated with real users before development begins, with a handoff your engineers can build from.

Most software that people dislike using is not ugly. It is confusing — built around how the database is organised rather than how the work actually happens. Design fixes that, and it is far cheaper to fix in a prototype than in production.

What you get

  • User research — interviews with the people who will actually use the thing
  • Information architecture and user flows mapped before any screen is drawn
  • Wireframes to settle structure while it is still cheap to argue about
  • Hi-fidelity visual design in Figma, reviewed with you in the file
  • Interactive prototypes you can click through and test with real users
  • A design system — components, type scale, colour, spacing — so future screens stay consistent
  • Accessibility considered as you go: contrast, focus states, keyboard navigation, screen reader semantics
  • Developer handoff with specs and assets, so nothing is lost in translation

When this is worth doing separately

Design is included in our build engagements. Commissioning it on its own makes sense when you want to validate a concept before funding development, when you have an in-house engineering team who need a design partner, when an existing product needs a redesign without rebuilding the back end, or when you need a design system so multiple teams stop diverging.

How we work

  1. Discovery. Users, goals, constraints and the business outcome the design has to serve.
  2. Structure. Flows and wireframes, agreed before visual design starts.
  3. Design. Hi-fidelity screens and an interactive prototype, iterated with you.
  4. Validate and hand off. Testing with real users where the stakes justify it, then a handoff engineers can build from directly.

Tools

Figma for design and prototyping, shared with you from day one so you are never waiting on an exported PDF to see where things stand. Notion for research notes and decisions.

Investment and timeline

Design-only engagements are scoped to the number of flows and screens involved. As a rough guide, a focused product design engagement runs a few weeks; a full design system for a multi-team product runs longer. When design is part of a build with us, it is included in the project price rather than billed separately. You get a detailed estimate after a free 30-minute discovery call.

Frequently asked questions

Can you design without building it?

Yes. We hand off Figma files, an interactive prototype, specifications and assets that your own engineers or another agency can build from. You own the files.

Do you do user research, or just visual design?

Both, and we would rather do the research. Interviews and usability testing are what stop a good-looking product from failing at the thing it was built to do. If budget is tight we will tell you which research is genuinely load-bearing for your case.

What is a design system and do I need one?

It is a reusable set of components and rules — type, colour, spacing, states — so new screens stay consistent and get built faster. If you have one product and one developer, it is probably premature. If you have multiple teams shipping interfaces that are drifting apart, it pays for itself.

How involved do we need to be?

More than most agencies ask. You review in Figma directly, and we work through design reviews with you rather than presenting finished work at the end. Decisions get documented in Notion so nobody relitigates them three weeks later.
