Production Management System

A production management system for small and mid-sized manufacturers, from planning through to the warehouse, built around how your floor actually works.

Many production units still run on paper forms, checklists and spreadsheets, with photos shared over chat and reports built by hand. A production management system brings that into one place, so data is captured where the work happens and reports build themselves.

What it can cover

  • The whole flow, from production planning through to the warehouse
  • Data entered at the point it is created, for example on tablets at the machines
  • Reports generated automatically, with updates sent to the right department heads when work is finished
  • Connection to the systems you already use, such as your existing ERP, so you build on the data you already have
  • Screens simple enough for anyone on the shop floor to use, whatever their experience with technology

From our work

For a manufacturer whose production ran on paper, forms and checklists, we built a data-driven production management system covering planning through to the warehouse. It is integrated with the client's existing ERP, which lacked a detailed production module, so it uses the data already there. A tablet app at the machines means data is entered where it is created, and reports are generated at the source. It removed manual steps, sped up production, and helped the client through ISO certification.

The lesson we took from it: design for the person actually doing the work, not an ideal user.

How we work

  1. Understand how you work. We study how your business runs and talk with the owners and the people who will use the system, before anything is built.
  2. Start with a proper first version. A working first version that covers what matters most to you. No half-built systems.
  3. Build with your users. We sit with your team while they use it, and shape the system around their real workflow.
  4. Support and improve. Once it is live, we keep improving it with your feedback. If something is working well, we leave it alone.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost, and how long does it take?

Every project is scoped after a free discovery call. Cost and timing depend on what you need, so we learn about your business first and then give you a written proposal. Use the Book a Call button to set one up.

Can it work with the ERP we already have?

Often, yes. We look at what your current systems hold and build around that data where we can, rather than asking you to replace what is working.

Will our shop-floor team be able to use it?

That is the goal from day one. We design the screens with the people on the floor and adjust them while they use it, so the system fits how they work.
